My experience

2024

Strategic Communications Consultant

United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs

In this role, I led the development of a strategic content strategy aimed at showcasing the added value and impact of OCHA-managed Pooled Funds. I crafted an identity document that effectively translated the Theory of Change into a cohesive narrative, highlighting the vision, value add, and intended impact of the Pooled Funds. I performed a comprehensive analysis of the content produced in 2023 to evaluate existing coverage, identify content types, and pinpoint gaps in key messaging. This analysis informed my recommendations for enhancing content creation, ensuring a reinforced and effective narrative for OCHA-managed Pooled Funds.

2020-2022

Communication Consultant

United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific

As the leader in the design of flagship communication products, my portfolio includes country infographics, research publications, an annual video summary, and social media graphics. I contributed key inputs to the National Bank of Cambodia's public campaign 'Let's Talk Money', creating the campaign's primary brochure and social media graphics. Additionally, I oversaw the design of a prototype for an updated project microsite.

2017-2024

Communication Analyst

UN Capital Development Fund

As the manager of a programme communication strategy, I successfully increased visibility amongst donors and industry leaders through effective implementation. I spearheaded the development of a range of products, including publications, infographics, animations, videos, blogs, and leaflets, which were paired with outreach campaigns and events that emphasized thought leadership, issues, and solutions. This approach resulted in an exponential growth of over 100% in monthly impressions, a 130% increase in followers, and set the record for the highest average page views within the organization. I also introduced and tested new communication tools and techniques that were widely adopted throughout the organization.

2016-2017

Senior Communications Specialist

Asian Disaster Preparedness Center

As the lead on branding, social media, and strategic communications, I achieved a significant increase in visibility and facilitated the introduction of novel tools and approaches that were adopted across the global project. Additionally, I co-developed and launched a new project website, which led to a 150% increase in site visits, improved bounce rates through engaging content, and designed intuitive click paths.

2015-2016

Project Manager

UN Resident Coordinators Office - Nepal Earthquake Response

As a manager of both international and national staff with a budget of US$ 600,000, I skillfully steered our project to secure US$ 1.5 million for a second phase, leading to an expanded mandate. The project's impact and value were validated by three independent evaluations and subsequently identified as a global best practice.

2015

Communication Analyst

UN Nepal

From the onset, I played a pivotal role in coordinating response efforts to the Nepal 7.8 magnitude earthquake, a contribution that was officially recognized by the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator. My duties included producing daily situation reports and liaising with humanitarian partners to guarantee reliable information sharing and effective public relations. Prior to the earthquake, I crafted advocacy messages, speeches, and presentations for the Government of Nepal's official delegation at the World Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction.

2011-2014

Public Information Coordinator

Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium

As the lead of all digital communication efforts, I transformed the NRRC into Nepal's most followed organization focusing on disaster risk reduction issues. I also coordinated the NRRC Communications Group to formulate Nepal’s first-ever government-approved list of public awareness messages for disaster preparedness. Further, I crafted speeches, talking points, presentations, and editorials for senior officials within both the UN and the Government of Nepal.
